Madness ensues

We're not on the thirteen-hour-a-day schedule this week--just the regular stay-till-seven scenario that's beginning to seem normal.

The most gorgeous October days are going by outside and things are coming unplugged in my brain. I'm misspelling stuff (and not caring!), I can't focus on a task for more than six minutes at a time, and (this is the worst) I am thinking about work when I'm not at work. This must end.

My sanity, such as it is, is hanging by a thread.

The thread is made of music (I brought in my whole CD collection) espresso, surreptitious discussions about Supernatural with [livejournal.com profile] vampirefan and [livejournal.com profile] owzers, and at least one break per day out in the park.

Here's what constitutes the scissors: the number "35" writ large on the big board (representing the number of days till go-live), cubicle-mate two feet away talking on the phone, people in the next cubicle laughing, people with clattery clattery keyboards, throat-clearing, breathing, and generally existing. Oh, and too fucking many meetings,

In the "could be thread, could be scissors" category is my current phone screen saver, the black and white photograph of Jensen Ackles wearing an unzipped sweatshirt and laughing his head off.

Another seven weeks?! Shit, I hope they're paying you overtime for this.

Any distraction helps when you are enduring that kind of relentless stress. I'm using the Mama Mia soundtrack a lot myself, not that I have your kind of stress going on. I remember clearly working on a project where I started dreaming in numbers I was so stressed by the spreadsheet work. Just remember that there is an end and it is getting closer all the time. Enjoy every tool you can find to get through the tough time.

Any, yes, at least with your life being so eaten up with work you are escaping the current state of the world, or at least our country. And the terrible negativity of the election campaigns, well, one is negative anyway...
