Sometimes I just gaze at good professional photos like this and wonder how they're done. I still think "eye" is well over half of the mix--the pros have learned to see a picture where you or I might not see one, and of course they take zillions of shots and can see the good one.
But then there's also equipment. The ability to set that depth of field so particularly when taking the shot, and to manipulate the colors afterwards (as I assume was done) do require special equipment.
