It was the single worst place in the whole house. Making it nice has changed the energy a LOT. Of course, now the second-worst place is in the top spot, and is going to cost a good bit more to fix, but, you know, one thing at a time.
The door was formerly my front door, and it was fashionable a few years ago around here to have a brightly painted front door in some feng shui shade in the red family. I opted for orange, since other parts of the house are in the purple and green parts of the color-wheel, and I've always loved that pumpkiny shade. It looks terrific in back with flower pots near it.
The new front door is in the process today of taking on a lovely espresso shade.
