The unexpected sources of healing

A week ago, a dear friend hurt me pretty badly. Today, the post office delivered the mail they've been holding for me since I left on vacation, and in it was a very lovely, thoughtful gift from that same friend.

About four months ago now, Monsoon died. It was a shocking thing to witness, and I knew I hadn't fully dealt with it.

When I opened my front door to get my mail this afternoon, a young cat, about three months of age, came strolling in to my house.

Monsoon

Son of Monsoon

There is no telling where healing will come from.

Thanks! I bailed on SV fandom, dumped the SV icons, and then went on a Hunt for better, multipurpose visual representation. *g* I love my new collection, and it leaves me almost hopelessly indecisive when I post or comment. But in a good way.

Oooh, that one's purty too. I see you're now Playing The Field. You need new icons for that sort of thing!

My icon collection has migrated away from fandom as well, and I find myself looking at and for images that say subtler things in subtler ways.

You would love the work at [livejournal.com profile] obsessiveicons. Check them out, they have a lot of excellent and gorgeous icons to choose from. [livejournal.com profile] iconsbysarah has some lovely work as well.

On the subject of pretty visuals, [livejournal.com profile] urban_decay is also a must-see community, specialising in artistic photographs of urban decay, and [livejournal.com profile] foto_decadent often has visually stunning images.
