A week ago, a dear friend hurt me pretty badly. Today, the post office delivered the mail they've been holding for me since I left on vacation, and in it was a very lovely, thoughtful gift from that same friend.
About four months ago now, Monsoon died. It was a shocking thing to witness, and I knew I hadn't fully dealt with it.
When I opened my front door to get my mail this afternoon, a young cat, about three months of age, came strolling in to my house.

Monsoon

Son of Monsoon
There is no telling where healing will come from.

12/8/06 03:02 (UTC)So the fact that I gave him a can of people tuna and a bowl of water this afternoon means nothing. Nothing at all...

12/8/06 03:04 (UTC)Thank you. I think I may have misrepresented this story a bit. Rufus, the little fella, seems to belong to the neighbors. But I really do believe he's of Monsoon's lineage (after all, Monsoon could NOT stay indoors, and did a great deal of catting about), and it did my heart good to see the circle of life, etc.
How's by you? I've been barely looking at LJ lately--so much going on in my head, you know?--so forgive me for being a stranger my ownself.

12/8/06 02:56 (UTC)If you'd like some food back, we've still got tons. We tried it with both cats but Hobbes couldn't hold it down after awhile, unfortunately. Although it did help us in transitioning his diet over from the old Science Diet to a completely organic one. Smaug can hold it down, but it has to be mixed with an organic canned food we found, so it would take us FOREVER to use up everything you gave us. We'd be quite happy to give it back for you to use, if you're interested.

12/8/06 02:59 (UTC)But it did my heart so much good to realize that he is very likely actually the Son of Monsoon. The resemblance in body conformation and behavior is uncanny. Also? He did seem to know me and the house, which is just eerie.
