Hello, world

I can't help it. I feel happy and hopeful and glad to be an American again tonight for the first time in eight years.

And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world – our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down – we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security – we support you. And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.

President Obama. How cool is that?

Very cool.

I don't like to go so over the top as to sing "Happy Days Are Here Again," because I'm not that naive, and that would be uncool.

But I really do feel hopeful.

Exactly. That right there. I said something very similar to Jes earlier tonight. Also, I dodn't have to say, "Well, I didn't vote for him." anymore!

Very cool!

I would like to imagine Obama systematically and steadily reversing all of Bush's disastrous policies, small and large, in the coming days. I think he has the will. And, unlike Jimmy Carter (who was elected in very similar circumstances) HE HAS THE CONGRESS!

That's from Return of the King. That scene made me cry so hard.

Oh, me too! That was a wonderful movie.

I haven't been this excited about America in a long time either. It feels so good to be aiming for the right path again as a country. He is intelligent, inspiring and creative. I think it's going to be ok now.

Right from jump, from that speech and that speech alone, he has proven a handful of very important points to me: he can pick a speechwriter, he's an orator, he's a statesman, he (or the people he's smart enough to surround himself with) understand the disastrous proportions of Bush's international legacy, and he's smart enough to be dead serious at a time like this.

Wonderful stuff. The world breathes a sigh of relief today.

Extremely cool.

No one can talk about anything else today at work. Happily, I work in a very Blue-State environment.

It's just a good day in America.

It *is* cool.

Congratulations on his election. Things are looking up!

They truly seem to be! Everyone around me (in my very-Blue city) is doing the happy dance today. Literally, tears of joy.

It's been quite remarkable.

Congratulations. I think the wave of hope travelled right around the world and gave everyone a lift. I hope in years to come we can all look back on his time in office with awe.

That's a good way of looking at it.

Thanks for stopping by! Nice to see you.
