Today's routine was: set sprinkler, do a row of beadwork, stagger out into the nearly unbearable heat and move sprinkler, drink water, do another row of beadwork, and so on.

And behold! My parched garden is slightly happier, my water meter spins upward, and Beading Serenity is one quarter finished.

No, no! You mistake! Pray, do not misconstrue my beadwork as anything other than the opportunity to sit quietly on a hot afternoon and do very little indeed, all the while hearing Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell read aloud to me by a most amiable gentleman.

It is the least ambitious thing in the world, I do assure you.

And yeah, that 19th-century Brit stuff gets stuck in your head like peanut butter in your hair!
