Thing 6 of 100 Things
Inspired by
oursin's consistent and fascinating 100 Things Meme posts (about London--I mean, my God, what a rich topic), I've decided to dust off my own iteration of the meme, One Hundred Moments of Magic, Synchronicity, and Interesting Coincidence.
For years and years, a favorite saying of mine has been "It only takes one white crow to prove that not all crows are black." It's shorthand for keeping an open mind, believing in possibilities, looking for the anomaly--the exception-- watching for signs.
The other day, on my way to the grocery store under cloudy, drippy skies, I saw a white crow.
I'd never seen one--didn't know for sure that they existed. It took me a second to process it: a caw got my attention and there was a familiar corvid wing shape against the sky, and...white wings. Not pale, not gray, not pigeon-esque: white. Crow. I fumbled for my phone but by the time I had it in hand the white crow had vanished into the white sky.
It was the beginning of a fresh string of little miracles and wonders that I hope will continue for a while.

Went out for a walk with the collie today under very drippy skies. Wonderful walk in the park where there were a surprising number of things blooming.

Spring in winter. It's weird, isn't it? Up here, either summer never really quite ended, or spring has come early, or winter just doesn't exist anymore. I'm not sure which, but yeah, things are popping up and blooming or not going dormant.
Since there's not a thing I can do about climate change that I'm not already doing, I guess the best approach is to say, well, this is kind of nice and interesting and not-freezing and I might as well enjoy it!

I've noticed that a lot of reviews of "Trespassing" say "I'm not really a fan of Lambert's, but..." (and then go on to praise the fantastic music). He's so out there, so very much who he is, that even on sites like Towle Road and After Elton, commenters seem to feel they need to distance themselves from him. I'm not sure I understand it; I know he has a lot of appeal for women like me, and of course, horror-of-horrors, being a chick thing is deadly *eyeroll*.
But damn, he's good!
And I hope you're able to get back more into your online community. I miss you!

I've started posting a bit more, but just on LJ. I suppose I'm going to have to do more on DW than comment, huh? *has to learn some things*

I need to reorganize my LJ reading page. It's way, way out of date.

I keep thinking I'm going to post all original content here instead of crossposting. I don't know why, because I have nothing against crossposting. But then I need to come up with a way to keep track of people who only post here and I haven't done that yet. *sigh* The internets have become so much work now with multiple platforms! I finally set up an RSS feed thingy today so I can attempt to start watching a few tumblrs. What is this all become? Hee.

Automatic crossposting from DW to LJ is great, but a) LJ is down so much that it's become unreliable and b) DW doesn't have crossposting to, like, a blog or Facebook or G+ or Twitter.
So as much as I love DW, it's starting to feel pretty outdated, and that makes me sad. As for Tumblr, I can't even. As they say on Tumblr.
