12/30 Sleepy Hollow

I just...

I'm sitting here watching "Sleepy Hollow," grinning at the ridiculous goodness and badness of it. It's like...so probably going to be cancelled but might catch fire. It's indescribable, but it has American legend + Apocalypse + a little bit of Clancy Brown + a very appealing lead woman of color + stupid fish-out-of-water time-travel jokes + you know, Headless Horseman. Of the Apocalypse.

And this one guy with a really beautiful nose playing Ichabod Crane. I mean. Sleepy Hollow. I think it might be love. Ridiculous, ill-advised love.

It's easy to forget in the flurry of meta and SJW wars, but the purpose of television is to entertain! And if you are being entertained, hurrah and I hope next week's episode is just as enjoyable! BTW the AV Club grade is B+, you're not the only one who had fun.

Every episode they *broadcast*--I'm still mad that they never burned off the rest of the episodes of The Playboy Club, and there's no DVD, so I will never get to see either two or three episodes of Lesbian Bunny Goodness with Bonus Sean Maher.

The traditional BBC "record over the tape" strategy?

For years, I've seen comments every new season: "Yeah, That Thing sounds cool, but I'm not even going to bother watching it because it's on Fox so they're just going to kick me AGAIN."

Me, too! And YES on the nose thing. Holy crap that man has a beautiful profile.

I'm not sure what "fish out of water" moment I loved most:

1) utter fascination with the electric windows on the car
2) the Starbucks on every corner "is there a law?" conversation
3) flashing himself in the face with the flashlight

Yes, this show is le Crack.
The Headless Horseman has me howling with laughter; first he's Bane, and then he's a pushy houseguest flopped on the sofa until you get ho~ome, and hey! Shotgun! Clever kraut...

Well, WE liked it. Had kind of the same reaction we had to LAST RESORT last year; "We love this so much, but how is it a SERIES?" The basic problem set up in the pilot is finite. It strikes me as about a 40-50 episode thing before it starts to get Gilligan syndrome.

On the other hand, it's Fox, so hell, fifty episodes would be a huge victory.
