The Cookie Trials

Trial number two of my chocolate-filled shortbread pillows, though not beautiful, was popular with my teenaged nephew. I admit that I managed to choke down most one or two of them myself.

I just made the ganache for trial number three. I think my cream-to-chocolate ratio was a little high--the stuff is cooling and not getting very firm. It's shiny and dark, though, and of course it tastes fantastic, because what's not to like in Valrhona dark chocolate + cream?

If it fails to set up, I shall be left with no choice but to use it as sauce on coffee ice cream. Damn.

I'm following this trial with great interest. :-)

The ganache had set up nicely by this morning, I'm pleased to report. I think if I fill the little pillows with it, bake them, and then make sure they have plenty of time to cool and re-set, the result will be a crispness containing a chocolatey softness.

Not that this is porn or anything.

*drools*

(and noooo, that doesn't sound porny at all!)

My order of the rolling papers paper candy-cups and shipping/gift boxes should be at my door on Friday. If all goes well, I'll be sending you a sample box of "coussins ganãchés" on Monday.

Oh the trauma! :)

I had some mint soymilk chocolate today and it was delish. Mmm, chocolate.

The ganache had set up by this morning and I shall proceed with "coussin"-making as soon as my Perfection Strips (http://www.countrykitchensa.com/catalog/product.aspx?T=1&productId=625575) arrive.

I know, I know. I bought a single-purpose kitchen gadget, totally against Project Empty principles. *sighs* What can I say? "Throes of enthusiasm" is my only excuse.

I have been following this experiment with great interest. Strictly in the interest of science, of course. And in the interest of science, might I suggest peer review, to ensure true objectivity as all scientific experiments require?

More to the point, I would like to volunteer as your peer reviewer. Scientific research, you know....

You know what? I should make these cookies, bring some over to you guys, stay for a glass of wine and a hey-how-are-ya, and generally get caught up.

Alternatively, because you guys have never even SEEN the BToR or, indeed, my house, we should do it the other way around. Wanna?

Oh yes absolutely!

Except I say why one or the other? Why not both?? Yours first, some night that works for all, ours next, some other night that works for all.

(Saturday nights are best for us, as S works weeknights. Sundays are doable, too.)

[identity profile] emeraldsedai.livejournal.com 2009-04-30 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Well, all righty then! I'll email you and we'll plan. And ITA--why pick and choose when "both" is a perfectly viable option?
