System Reboot
On the advice of my good friend Gayle, who cares about me and sometimes knows better than I do when I'm stressed out, I took a day off work today. The bastards, you see, were really starting to grind me down.
So I decided to drive down to the beach. Walking by the ocean always has a reconstructive effect on my spirits.
My phone went dead, so any idea of chatting the long drive away was out. My lost-wallet credit and debit card haven't been replaced yet (grrr) so I just had to hope nothing went wrong with me, my six dollars in cash and my signal-free phone.
I stopped at a convenience store on Highway 26 to check my phone again (still no go--everything worked except the cellular signal) and buy some Cheetos--a rare and always-regrettable indulgence, but a terrific stress reliever.
Then I went to Cannon Beach.
It had been stormy.

(One of dozens of whole trees washed up on the beach. This one was very red--western red cedar, maybe?)
It was windy.

(seriously? I need to start wearing some color)
I had the place pretty much to myself.

(that never happens at Cannon Beach!)
And it was, as always, beautiful.

(*points at magical big black monolith*)
(*is actually pretty impressed with this photo*)
Just as I approached Haystack Rock, like magic, my phone came back on, as if my little mini-vacation had rebooted my day and things were starting up again.
I spotted a rental house on my way back to my car that made me want to stay.

(Maybe one of these days...)
Then I came home and availed myself of the Bathtub of Resuscitation, and all in all, I'm almost beginning to have the feeling of starting to be de-stressed!

I also want some Tillamook white licorice ice cream.

I recommend it. White licorice ice cream doesn't sound like my cup of tea--can I have coffee-flavor instead?

Glad to hear you're taking care of yourself. Now if only someone would take care of the bastards, eh?

That rental cottage? That's the one where I think N/S should stay when they sneak off together.

Lovely pictures. That tree on the beach looks like an alien landscape.
