Doctor Who 5.02. No spoilers or deep thinky thoughts here, just a stand up and cheer because that is the way to write sci-fi. Terrify the crap out of me, make me cry, make me think, point out my fundamental flaws as a citizen or even as a human being, make me stand up and cheer, and do it with intrepid, awesome women characters.

"Liz Ten, Yeah. I'm the bloody queen, mate. Basically, I rule." Cheesy, but again, I don't care. She was awesome. ETA Did you see her BOOTS? Excellent boots.

The Star Wars references charmed me, the turny-head booth creatures freaked me out, and I'm just going to have to make I just made an icon out of the Abdicate button. Angry, angry Doctor made me twitch a little: "Nobody human has anything to say to me today!"



I'm sort of in love with this new series.

I love having a companion who thinks for herself and stands up to the Doctor effectively. Donna and Ten were mates, buddies, but it seems as if Amelia and Eleven may become friends (he so needs a friend.)

Amy/Amelia is shaping up to be my favorite companion. I've really liked all of them, but the fact that we met Amy as Amelia at the age of, what, nine or whatever, and that she was unfrightened then, and remains fearless now--well, it's an awesome example of a good way to write women and girls, and I wish Supernatural other shows would take lessons.
