11/20 Territory

This is what the porch is for.
Looking out from an old-fashioned front porch at a damp front yard towards the street in Northeast Portland. A big red bike and an empty flower pot are on the porch
A still, damp, cool early evening in September. An armchair, a book, neighbors walking their dogs or riding their bikes...

...and cats.

The daring rescue

As I sat over coffee this morning with my mom, yapping about my trip (from which I got home late last night, and about which I hope to do a bit more writing soon), the piteous crying of a cat gradually impinged on my awareness.

Litter Kwitter

If you have a cat and have ever wondered about that potty-training system that's supposed to get Felix and Fluffy to do their biz in the people toilet, instead of perpetrating the old stinky-litter-box problem, you might want to visit my good pal [livejournal.com profile] roseambr. She's testing the Litter Kwitter system with her two cats, Cassidy and Sundance, it so you don't have to.

Check it out. She's journaling the experiment starting today with the first step, where you put a toilet-seat shaped litter pan on the floor next to the actual commode. She'll be updating as the experiment proceeds.

Fascinating. If I ever get a cat again, and [livejournal.com profile] roseambr succeeds in getting Cassidy and Sundance to pee in the toilet, I'm giving this a try.
