I don't think there's any hope for me
I'm now watching episodes of Merlin with the commentaries on.
Oh dear. That's a sure sign of the apocalypse: a new fandom. 1.07 has the director, ASH, and Bradley James being cute and bitchy and darling--and not a little slashy.
No hope. None.
ETA: Colin Morgan's natural voice is awesome.

How does Colin Morgan naturally sound?

b) Much less innocent
c) Lower register
I don't know what the kink is, but there's something about the "true voice" of an actor who uses a very different voice that's just fascinating to me. Jamie Bamber, David Tennant, even to some extent Jensen Ackles. I was inordinately thrilled to find the same of Colin Morgan.

I hear you about the voices issue, I totally do.
I love the fact that Colin Morgan's got a Welsh name (like the original Merlin), typical Black Irish colouring (if that's his natural hair colour), and comes from Armagh. He reeks of Celt. *happy fangirlish sigh*

According to commentary on the pilot episode, they saw over a hundred actors for the role of Merlin. CM had very little experience--a few guest roles, apparently--but wowed the producers with his air of likable-ness and his comic timing.
They didn't mention sex-appeal. In fact, the commentaries go out of their way to mention the "family" rating the show is aimed at. Which means all the sexual tension just bubbles there, unmentioned and simmering, though there's no WAY the lead actors aren't being directed to gaze at one another, and there's equally no way that the frequent semi-nakedness and undressing and dressing are just accidents.
It's really quite wonderful.

I know what you mean, though. It's kind of like the whole show is flirting with you. It's awesome. :)
Every now and then you get hints of that deeper voice in Merlin, usually when he's being badass. Gives me tingles every single time!

Maybe that's the definition of what makes a fannish show. For Merlin, I think I might be coerced into plugging my computer to my TV via HDMI cable and watching on the big screen with the big sound.

I'm so happy for you that you've found a new passion.
