For technical reasons involving inadequate software and pigheadedness on my part, Beading Serenity as originally conceived turned out to be stupid and nearly impossible, and I am forced to start over with Plan B.

Plan B involves a loom.



Loomwork goes much faster than the technique I originally planned, but has the disadvantage of being a huge hassle to finish. Sadly, there's no good way around this. And I knew that. I just didn't want it to be true. Hey! Those pyramids sure are pointy, aren't they?

Anyway, today I put a loom together from parts I had lying about.

Nothing about beadwork is very high-tech

Then, using duct tape and Krazy Glue, I repaired an old (and heretofore never-needed) gooseneck magnifier that will allow me to actually see the beads. (*waves at wedjateye*)

Next: I have to recreate the entire damn pattern. See, the software I spent eighty bucks on does not understand some very basic things about beads--notably that they're taller than they are wide. The Serenity medallion would have been the Serenity Ellipse if I'd carried through with what the software originally spewed forth. I realized this only after printing out all 33 pages of the pattern. Silly me.

Anyway, then I can start beading. That Bead-O-Meter should start showing progress. Any day now. Really.
