Also, meant to add: the book helped me shed my dismissive feelings toward very young people in the asexual forums. It helped me remember that in adolescence, I was ill at ease, to say the least, around the subject of sexual attraction. That I--and the entire culture around me--dismissed that as me being a late bloomer, a prude, etc., in no way diminishes the fact that I wasn't attracted to people in a sexual way.

I just didn't know that I knew it, because the terminology wasn't there. Hell, we barely had the word "gay" back then. Labels are important. Dangerous in the wrong hands, but powerful.
