20/10/08 02:01 (UTC)If I were merely an objective observer who didn't give a shit about the world, and this were merely an academic exercise, I'd almost want to see the Rethugs win, just to see the epic catastrophe that would be a McCain/Palin Administration. It comes from the same human instinct that makes people turn to look as they drive past a particularly grisly car crash (to continue the car metaphor). What my high school English teacher would've called "the fascination with the abomination".
But I remain ever the pathological optimist, and I am therefore doomed to hope that Obama can actually save us from ourselves.
I also still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. (The Tooth Fairy, however, is on my shit list.)
