Actually better than the teaser/trailers. Lots of good Jossy lines. The big black airplane ("People tend to confuse the words 'new' and 'improved'") reminds me an awful lot of Serenity, with its drop ramp, cavernous interior, and dangerous side-engines. The set, like so many of Joss's key sets, has two real stories (get it?) and lots of room to move (remember the Hyperion? The Dollhouse? Wolfram and Hart?). I saw one tweet deriding the camera work, but I found the first episode visually appealing, and I'm so happy to let the Joss-isms wash over me.

reminded me of this:

I shouted "Gunn!@!!" when J August Richard appeared. They'd better bring him back. Man, I've missed him.
I love the completely humorless main spy-guy. He's the Derek Hale! I can totally relate to him. He makes a great foil for Coulson's extreme humanity.
And speaking of Coulson, I love him because he turned the truth serum on No-Humor-Dude. And ooh, mystery! What is "Tahiti"? And do we get more Doctor Shepherd Book, please?
I was prepared to be annoyed with the hacker chick (it takes me a while to learn character names, sorry), but I like her. She's brave and smart, and I can forgive the computer magic because All Shows Do Computer Magic nowadays and I've learned to overlook it.
Simmons--the one with the Scottish accent is Simmons, right?--is charming. He's kind of the Willow character, maybe?
Ming-Na Wen is...wow. I love a cold female character like that. I like her harsh, angry expression and I can hardly wait to find out how she got that way.
And in conclusion: Yes! Good show! I'll be back for more.
