Is anyone else feeling like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is slow to gel?
I'm not disliking it--not by any means--but I'm not loving it quite as much as I'd hoped. I continue to enjoy, in an "Aww!" kind of way, the frequent re-use of visual tropes from Firefly and Serenity. There are some good, memorable, quotable lines, all of which I'm seeing on Twitter three hours in advance of the episode's airing here in the Pacific zone. I'm still interested in Coulson's story, and now I'm curious about Skye's loyalites. I laughed out loud at the post-finale scene with Nick Fury, and I didn't see the inflatable raft trick coming at all.
But what does it say about the main cast that Fitz's Seven Dwarf drone quad-copters are kind of my favorite characters so far?
Too much gunplay, the really awkward non-chemistry between Coulson and the Peruvian comandante, a Mayan temple in Peru, overuse of the "can I have that in English now Mr Genius Guy?" joke--these were some of the low points for me.
Ah well. I'll definitely keep watching. Joss's shows famously need a little time get on their feet.
