This computer! It has so much SCREEN OMG. And the keyboard! It lights up! But not too much, just enough to find the unusual keys in a dark room.

And it has a fingerprint reader, an add-on that I thought lame until [livejournal.com profile] serenity_valley demonstrated why I needed it--because instead of typing in a password you just rub your fingertip over the little indentation. Shut up. There's nothing untoward about it.

I still haven't figured out the problem with Vista, because so far it's just like XP only slightly flashier, and is giving me no grief at all.

So, in short, I am a very happy Dell customer, and you don't know how old and crappy your old and crappy computer was till someone steals it and forces you to get a new one.

I've been afraid to get Vista (although I might, when they bring in System 7 and dump the Vista computers at low!low! prices) so I'm glad it isn't causing you grief!

The, ahem, Form Factor that *I* find unduly suggestive is the index-finger-to-scroll-wheel procedure.

*shutting up - but thinking plenty*

Ha, fingerprint reader is nothing. I've always been a fan of the TrackPoint on IBM/Lenovos and, well, I'll just let XKCD speak for me. :-D

That's one of the many reasons I'm pretty sure my next laptop is going to be a Thinkpad. Not the dirty talk, I just like them as a pointing device!

Yay!!! Isn't it just such a time of glee in those first days/weeks after you get a new machine?? Especially when the change from your old one is so drastic! You get used so used to the limitations of the old one because it's such a gradual thing, but that first time you boot up with that HD screen, or you launch a program in 1.29 seconds (instead of 1.29 minutes)...honestly, it's like Handel's "Messiah" in the background, amirite?

(We didn't quite get to enjoy that immediate "aaaahhhhhhhh" moment this time around because we were still deep in the midst of the Epic Technological Fail, but still. Although the first time we logged on with the new modem & router? Oh yes, choirs of angels I'm telling you.)

So, so cool!!! I'm so excited for you! And how right was I about that fingerprint thing? (Plus, I love that you can register "backup fingers" in case the primary finger is...compromised in some way. Practical + macabre = WIN!)

And I'm with you on the Vista thing. Of course, it helps that we're using it well after initial release, but still, I haven't had any issues with it. And I rather like the transparent menus and reorganized menu/file structure.
