18/8/10 23:33 (UTC)And yes, even at that time (1994) he was older than I envision Marchbanks to be, but I do see him as older than John in the story, and much damaged by war, and not at all a handsome fellow. IDK, maybe I conceived of him subconsciously as a kind of anti-John.
