NEWS FLASH: Going back to work after almost three full and glorious weeks of relaxing vacation is...underwhelming, to say the least.
I'm rested, I'll say that much. Just before I left, I learned that I'm to be the last domino in a domino effect of task reassignments that will result in my taking over "Norm"'s job, while passing nothing on to anyone else, so yesterday, when my boss shifted one of my little projects off my plate, I was kind of relieved. Even though it was the project I was most interested in.
So now "Norm" is all gung-ho to get me trained. I have a funny feeling there will be some more Norm posts in my future.
Meanwhile, we have the glory days of early fall to enjoy here in Stumptown: Days (like today) of glorious cool sunshine and wild, cloud-sculpture skies, interspersed with monsoon rains, the threat of which keeps a lot of fair-weather bike commuters out of my way, ha-ha! And your little dog, too.

22/9/10 05:50 (UTC)Weather is fantastic here - my favourite combination of misty mornings with a chill in the air and warm, sunny days that encourage me to wash every last thing that will fit in the washing machine 'ready for winter'. (I didn't actually choose to wash the big, heavy bedspread yesterday, that was down to some poor food choices on Lucy's part, but at least it was good drying weather and the thing was washed, dried and back in place by bedtime.)

22/9/10 06:04 (UTC)I do love it, though, when I can wash, line-dry, and replace the bed linens all in a day. They smell so wonderful.

22/9/10 06:12 (UTC)(I have read - in many and various places - things that indicate people in the US are frequently opposed to line-drying, and indeed that some landlords and housing associations forbid it. Are you unusually European in this?)

22/9/10 17:45 (UTC)But in a very-American twist, I have a large porch across the whole front of my house, much of it screened from the street by plantings, and that is where I have my clotheslines. Except for those mouldering days of cool, still, fungus-making humidity, I'm able to line-dry my laundry almost year-round.
I've heard of neighborhoods where clotheslines are forbidden, but I sure don't live in one. We have chickens and goats. Ask

22/9/10 18:03 (UTC)I don't know why we lack porches and verandahs here. When I build my dream house...
