I'm gathering that this cold/virus thing I've got is unusually severe, and that it's not just me. Anyone else got it? Is there hope?
I get colds once or twice a year, and they always follow the same arc of sore throat, chest tickle, snot-fest, cough-fest, and done. This one is different. It incubated longer, it's hitting in a different sequence (not throat-first), and its symptoms are practically operatic in their enormity and intensity.
It is, in short, a very uncomfortable experience. I've never in my life sneezed like I've been sneezing the last day or so, and I've never had a cold keep me awake two nights running, forcing me to resort to drugs in order to sleep a few hours. I won't even get started on the weird cycles of feeling cold and feeling hot, all without benefit of the slightest fever that I can detect.
What is this? Some virus liberated from the melting Antarctic ice? I'm ready for it to be done.
