This is a personal journal where I write about what's foremost on the slowly-drifting Calder mobile of my mind.

Virtually all of my posts are public.
I try to make my posts personal and positive. Nobody ever accused me of being the life of the party, but to me a good conversation is a party.
So I love comments.
Whether you subscribe or have dropped by out of curiosity, I prize your perspective. My own ideas grow and change through the conversations I have here.
I answer comments as soon as I can.
I welcome brief "+1" type comments.
I love knowing that you stopped by and looked at my pictures or read the headline, and just wanted to say "hey." Be warned though: in answer to your "hey" I might wax eloquent. Don't mind me--I'm just thinking out loud. Answer or not, as you feel comfortable.
Feel free to comment on older entries. I love that.
Conversations around here are perpetually subject to revival. Just bear in mind that I've grown and changed--some of my older entries don't conform to my current standards.
Hijack away.
If you and someone else get to commenting back and forth on a post of mine, I feel like a successful party host. Go for it. I'm likely to join in.
Private-messages.
I prefer to store comments with the journal entry they refer to, but if you want to be off the record for any reason, a private message is fine.
A note on my style
I'm a navel-gazing introvert, analytical and intense. My engagement with ideas, coupled with emotional detachment, has caused my conversation to be construed as argumentative, demanding, or authoritative. I never intend it as such, not in my own posts and certainly not in comments on yours. I work hard to avoid leaving that impression. If I say something that strikes you that way, and you call me on it, I will both apologize and do my best to re-think and re-state my ideas.
Subscribe to my journal at will, and be welcome. Unsubscribe when you no longer want to read it.
I don't track reciprocity in reading, commenting, subscribing, or access. I promise that my feelings won't be hurt if the scales aren't perfectly balanced.
My interactions with your journal will tend to reflect the values I've listed here.
I read my Dreamwidth and LiveJournal feeds fairly regularly. I comment, subscribe and unsubscribe in much the same spirit as I've described.
Assuming that you post publicly and have comments turned on, I'm as likely as not to leave you wordy, thinky, analytical and exploratory comments. If you prefer not to have that kind of interaction from me, please let me know and I will unsubscribe.
