6/30: Hotel Dark Em

I think I'm gonna buy a new couch.
I've never had any kind of guest accommodation in this house. The living room is too cramped for a traditional sofa bed, and there's just the one bedroom. In the past, visitors have slept on a twin mattress on the living room floor, on my undersized couch (she was unusually small), and in a tent in my side yard (sorry, sis!). Others have been directed to moderate hotels not too far from here.
I think IKEA has come to my rescue at last with a sofa-bed that will fit, if a bit massively, into this space.
It's pink.

Inasmuch as the living room walls are black

and I already have a colorful rug

and a purple armchair

then why not go with these turquoise side tables that are so cute and match parts of the rug

...so that my living room becomes the very opposite of my severely stark-white bedroom.
It'll be the Anti-Chamber!

With the addition of a curtain (how 'bout orange?) there between the front door and the pink couch, it can become a guest bedroom...ish, as the British say. And so much cheaper than adding a room.

3/2/15 15:55 (UTC)You are right, it is pretty big for that room, but as long as you like it (and you don't need the floor space for projects) then I say go for it!
Interesting idea that along with all the other changes you are making; that you would consider opening your home up to the possibility of guests.

4/2/15 00:20 (UTC)(And yes, the pink couch will be too big for the room, but I've moved my present couch to replicate its position, and I'm still able to open out and maneuver around my drop-down work table.)

3/2/15 16:28 (UTC)Maybe a purple curtain? That should go next to the pink gracefully and match the undertone of the walls. And if it's diagonal from the chair, that would pull the space together nicely.

4/2/15 00:22 (UTC)Multi-purpose rooms FTW indeed. I had a futon couch-bed for years and it was dandy, even before the days of foam toppers. Hope you get to keep yours.

3/2/15 17:59 (UTC)With the armchair and funky side tables I demand you post pics of the room when all is in place :o)
(PS - lovely to see you posting here again)!

4/2/15 00:39 (UTC)If you think there's the slightest chance that I won't post pictures--of this and every other little thing that crosses my mind, you don't know me! The phone-cam and automatic upload to the cloud is the best invention ever.

4/2/15 19:24 (UTC)You can find curtains these days for amazingly low prices, too. Seriously, they're worth looking at for sheer yardage if you wanted to sew something else. I figure I can take a risk, and if I goof, well, not the end of the world.
