Monsoon came back today from his long (but very comfortable) exile at my mother's house, and after a bit of a pout in the basement, seemed very glad to be home.
My Serenity DVD arrived this afternoon, and I'm going to make a new Christmas Eve tradition of watching it. With a shot of Laphroaig. And maybe some cake.
My sister and brother-in-law fixed a fabulous prime-rib dinner, and much jollity and deliciousness ensued.
My sister gave me a household safe. I mean a real, heavy-duty safe that can be bolted to a concrete foundation. For my passport, you see, so that I never lose it again. I laughed and laughed, and then had to explain to my sister--whose feeling were hurt--that I was laughing at irony, not at her gift, which really is rather cool.
On a lighter note, I got a basket filled with bath goodies. It's now in a place of honor in my wonderful new bathroom, which is almost nearly practically about to be completely finished. I'm set to smell sweet and be all scrubbed for the whole of the coming year, I think.
Oh, and I acceded to a whole new level of geekdom this evening when I jump-started the utterly dead and unrechargeable Li-Ion battery from my brand new smartphone by stripping a USB power cable and touching bare wires to the battery terminals. And it worked!

Okay, I'm cracking my bottle of Laphroaig and cueing up the DVD.
Merry Christmas, everybody.
