Cheerier and cooler by far than my theatergoing experience last night: the 90 minute presentation on Thursday of
Google Wave, the video of which I watched at work yesterday because yes, it actually
is work-related. But not. (I mean, saying that something Google is or is not related to this or that is a little like talking about the air we breathe.)
"Part document, part conversation," they say. Wave is docuversation! It's realtime and live with all the non-realtime functions of email. It translates, too: Jeanne-Marie is typing away to me in français and it's appearing in my Wavespace in good English, pretty much instantaneously.
Google Wave. Coming to a browser near you later this year. For free. They're signing up test users and bug-finders and survey-responders now. If you don't want to watch the 90 minute video (though it's geek heaven and I recommend it--it even has a Firefly reference in it!), there's a
blog summary that's worth a look.
