Geeks in the making
24/9/06 09:10It's the first Sunday morning of fall: bright, sharp, golden. I have a cup of coffee here on the arm of my Adirondack chair on the porch. Overgrown bamboo protects the neighborhood from the sight of my grubby hair and fluffy bathrobe.
Two little boys are playing in the yard across the street. One of them just said, "I can run through space, and fire. And ice. And lava! I can run through lava! I'm called LavaBoy. This gun has lava in it! Pssshhhhhhh!"
The other little boy shouts, "These clothes are energy fields!"
"Wait! I have an idea! When we're running away from the bad guys? We can just take some of the lava out of our pockets and throw it at 'em." He flings some bits of hydrangea leaves around.
"Hey! You just blew me up. That's not nice."
