Question: what is better on a chilly, rainy autumn Saturday than drinking a latte and seeing the FedEx truck pull up outside with a new toy for you to play with? Answer: hardly anything!
Every now and then I have a mad moment of certainty that some new tech toy will actually make my life better. I had one of those moments a couple of weeks ago. The result? Redfly. It's a dumb clamshell that uses your smartphone as its brain. All it does is give your phone a touch-typing keyboard and an eight-inch screen.
Which, when you think about it--hey, this smartphone can do almost all of what I use a laptop for: surf the internet, create documents, send emails and stuff, if only I could actually type on it or see a damn thing on that tiny-ass screen, right?
So Redfly bridges that gap.
Mine came today, and presented some driver problems, and I was gonna send it back, but the company that makes it emailed me a beta driver within a couple of hours and it worked, and I'm all, "Whee!"
So, this is kind of a phone post.
