How can a show going on nine years old suddenly become so good again? Is it just me being sentimental, with the return of the fundamental Supernatural "he ain't heavy he's my brother" theme? I really enjoyed 9x01.
Edited to add this because it's the perfect accompaniment to my nostalgic, fannish feelings this evening.

9/10/13 06:19 (UTC)The writing was good. The actors felt present. The story bowled along and at no point did I glance at the clock and think "How much longer?" (though I did glance at it and think OMG Hurry Up Castiel!). I feel so happy to be enjoying Show again, and hoping for that absolutely operatic ending we should have gotten in S5.

9/10/13 18:20 (UTC)I loved the part where Cas puts his clothes in the washer and realizes that he has to choose between clean clothes and something to eat. It was well written, acted, and edited. A whole lot of plot and character unfolded in that simple, clear, wordless scene.
Jared Padalecki was live-tweeting the episode on West Coast time, so it was extra fun to read his comments about it, particularly how much he enjoyed playing Ezekiel, and some of the deep thought he put into his acting decisions.
