Here's a little fandom dilemma that I could use some advice on.

During the autumn (as I journaled about a lot) I participated in Podbang, a gift exchange of long podfic. I was assigned a giftee, and after examining her preferences carefully, discarded one or two candidate stories and settled on "When Heroes Go Down, They Go Down Fast," a long gen Supernatural AU that seemed to meet her criteria.

Fast forward through a dozen music downloads, communication with the story's author, rehearsals, approximately 20 hours of recording and 100 hours of editing; go directly to my submission, smack under deadline on December 6, of a finished podfic running just over eight hours.

I've never heard a single word from my giftee. I guess it doesn't matter--I didn't do the podfic for praise or thanks, but because it was just really fun to do. And yet...

IDK. Should I say something? Or just let it go?

That's really crappy! I mean, I was a bit weirded by my story (which are my own issues, that the readers could not have known!) and of course I thanked them., That's just what you do! I mean, it's the LEAST we can do when someone puts this much time into it!

I have all the podbangs d'loaded and am slowly listening and feedbacking. You should hear from me in...late 2011? :P

Otoh, I think if I were you I'd just let it go. People suck! *cuddles you*

Did your recipient drop out? Sometimes when people drop out, they feel too embarrassed at having received a gift without giving one to say anything. Or they dropped out because something major is going on in their lives, and they forget about the fest completely.

Anyway, just let it go. It's no reflection on you.

The sad fact is, not everyone takes their commitments seriously. Not everyone is polite by default.

If I'd been in your position (prior to knowing she'd dropped out), I'd have wanted to contact her. But then I might have remembered some of my previous fic exchange experiences and feared that contact might explode into drama - which would have left me contacting the mod and whining to my flist. :D
