Yoga update

After the less-than-stellar maiden voyage a couple of weeks ago with the yoga class that couldn't accommodate me, I give myself points for actually trying again today. And it went much better.

A different coworker took me along to a different class with a different teacher (though in the same lovely downtown studio) and it was wonderful.

It was hatha yoga, for one thing, which is much more my style. And the teacher is this gorgeous stork of a Ukrainian woman with a gentle spirit, a kind heart, and a fabulous accent. She asked me if I had any special needs, I mentioned my wrists, she checked on me three times during the class and made very subtle adjustments, and I came away having had a lovely, stretchy lunch hour.

So I'll be going back and hopefully loosening up even more in the coming weeks.

I love Hatha yoga. And I'm glad the second teacher was better!

When I first encountered it (a long time ago), Hatha yoga was yoga. I realized on my way back to the office from the class yesterday that Hatha yoga has everything I'm looking for and nothing I'm not. I don't need a demanding workout, just calm, and a chance to improve my flexibility and ease of movement.

It was really lovely.

Just because "when the student is ready, the teacher will appear" doesn't mean that every schmuck who thinks he's a teacher really is...

To be fair, one student's schmuck is the answer to another student's prayer, and the coworker who took me to the wrong class thinks very highly of the schmuck herself.

This class yesterday was a really good fit for me, and I feel wonderful today.

Go on, you bad thing! \o/ I'm glad you didn't let that bigot of a teacher the previous time put you off.

Heh. Thanks. Now to go again. Every Thursday lunch hour since then, I've managed to miss class through one cause or another. Tomorrow, alas, will be no exception. I'll get back eventually, though, because I really liked it.
