I've made some progress towards Dressing My Truth, without actually overburdening my one and only credit card (much).
The program suggests a 30-day trial using what you already own before giving away everything in your closet. That gives you time to develop your eye, test the system, andnot be completely, obsessively rash make informed decisions.
So I haven't given away my complete Type 2 and Type 3 wardrobes yet, but they're in bags in the giveaway closet, and so far I'm not looking backwards because the Type 4 style is really working well for me.

My Type 2 Wardrobe: the "Don't be too showy at your age" selection designed not to make too much of a statement.

My Type 3 Wardrobe--not not me, but I'll admit that the colors are too warm for my personality.

This is an early foray into the Type 4 look.
Color isn't the whole of the matter, but it's a big part. I've never worn that shade of blue before, and I find that I feel good in it. Pure white, pure black, and pure hues, though not what I think of as "elegant," actually do work for me, much to my surprise.
When I say "work for me," I mean not only that I like what I see in the mirror, but I like the way people react to me. I feel much less armored and much more naturally strong, if that makes sense. Like I'm looking out at the world from a position of inner authority, and the world is looking back at me in the same light. It's...truer, somehow.

Color question?
28/6/12 00:12 (UTC)Re: Color question?
28/6/12 01:24 (UTC)Every Type can wear pretty much all colors, but each Type has its own chroma--tints, tones, shades or hues. A red example is here.
But it goes beyond color, to texture, design line, fabrication (aka body or drape), and pattern (prints, contrasts, symmetry).
The goal is a complete outward representation of your energetic "truth", and I have to say, there's really something to it.
If you enter an email address on the DYT site, they'll send you a series of links to free videos that contain masses of good information, plenty to help you zero in on your Type, even if you don't spring for the whole program. The sales pressure is very light and honest--you'll get some emails but you can unsubscribe easily, and there's no sleazy marketing. I trust them--it's a very cleanly run outfit.
Let me know if you do take a look and come up with your Type. I'd love to discuss it further.

28/6/12 02:30 (UTC)Type 2 is the "soft, subtle woman" whose energy is best expressed in muted tones, flowing lines, soft fabrications and, yes, water-color patterns. She's the one who, as a child, might have been admonished to hurry up, to come out of her shell, to join in more. In her natural element she's comfortable, sensual, unhurried and caring.
I LOVE people like that. But hoo-boy am I ever not one of them. :D

28/6/12 04:10 (UTC)So me. Purple, in all directions. Otherwise grey. Um, in all directions.
I like the blue on you.

28/6/12 06:40 (UTC)That blue shirt you're wearing looks fantastic on you!
I haven't poked around on the DYT site yet and have never had much truck with the Colour Me Beautiful crew, but the colours I'm always drawn to - whether decorating my home or dressing myself - are based around earth tones. Olives, sandy earthy browns, terracottas perked up with the occasional brilliant blue or green (and sometimes orange or yellow with respect to home but not clothes).
When I moved back into the flat (post fire) people asked if I was going to substantially change my colour schemes and I was all why the hell would I do that? I've found a colour palette that works and make me feel comfortable / happy / relaxed / energised. Why would I change it? *G* The only room I had to repaint after the decorators had left was the living room as the initial blue feature wall and white with a hint of colour walls erred too far on the side of cold rather than warm. The walls are still one blue and 3 white but they're the warmer mediterranean scale of colours now.

28/6/12 17:27 (UTC)And when you go to the source page of the image, you see more stunning pictures of the same woman and her bold sense of color. This is a great resource for me as a Type 4 with Type 3 secondary. I was beginning to feel a bit black-and-white, and this woman has given me some wonderful ideas about color.

3/7/12 05:35 (UTC)Dressing Your Truth is a really interesting program. It goes deeply into "energy profiling" and takes all kinds of things into account that you wouldn't think have any bearing on what kinds of clothes to wear. But when you try them, they really do have a kind of magical effect. (And nothing in the program specifies that anybody has to wear pink--though there are pinks for every type if you want them.)
I wouldn't want to guess at your type because we haven't spent much time together, but if you watch this video, you might start to get a feel for it.

3/7/12 18:09 (UTC)As Carol Tuttle repeatedly points out in her books and videos, everyone has pieces of all the Types, but everyone leads with one.

6/7/12 22:10 (UTC)That makes perfect sense, and I can see it in your picture!
