darkemeralds: Screencap from Life on Mars with caption Welcome To The Team (Welcome to the Team)

Workin' on a Saturday. The whole Saturday, apparently. It was supposed to be a couple of hours, but it's turned into a marathon of fiddle-farting around trying to get the damn fiscal year closed. The degree to which I actually care about the fiscal year close, or anything else with the word "fiscal" in it, can be measured in pico-somethings. And yet, here I am.

What's more, I'm very very hungry. I skipped breakfast, thinking I'd be home by lunchtime. I went out a bit ago in search of victuals, and came up both empty-handed and rained-upon.

So, I'm amusing myself designing my bedroom re-do. What do you think? Are these curtains too rugby-shirt-ish?

Oooh, yay! They just said I could go home. Food, here I come.

I think the curtains are spiffy! Although, along that line, I saw some plain cream muslin curtains with a black *edging* and some buttons a la Chanel that were just "extra."*

To be completely frank, I don't love the curtains. :(

Glad they finally released you, though.

I'm so glad I don't have to worry about fiscal year end any more - I do NOT MISS being an accountant. So far, in my new role, I haven't had to deal with any of that. Glad they released the hostages!

Heh - I have pale walls, a black and white sofa, back curtains (in summer) and black cushions *G*

I think that room looks delightful as well as a relaxing place to spend time!

They look nice in the context of that room. Hard to tell whether the slight warming effect of the external light is crucial to the atmosphere or not. Was just wondering whether in a colder light they might look a bit stark and cheap .. but if the material is good quality, they probably wouldn't.

We've taken to hanging a thick sofa throw up over our blinds to keep the light out. At the moment, despite the ghastly weather, we get about 3 hours of proper darkness and by 4am it really looks like it's time to get up. Last night however, we were thwarted in our sleep quest by someone's damn alarm going off for ages ... might need ear plugs as well!

The rain today was quite spectacular, even by recent standards. Scotland was inaccessible by rail last weekend ... It goes on and on!

Ooh, so double-glazing? I remember you mentioning plans for cutting out street noise from your recording studio. Are you working on anything in particular at the moment?

Flooding. Further north, we had landslides. And the weekend before, Mr Kis couldn't get back to Glasgow from Sheffield on the Friday night because of flooding on the west coast line.

Ah! Is that your sister's new occupation? How exciting. For both of you.

it's a great way to build up my portfolio.

Absolutely! Now I'm planning for you ... US short stories by lesser known authors? Someone who might take well to an approach? Sci-fi? Historical romance?

**nods** The combo makes sense - and offers you a bit of variety.

Good for Helen! How wonderful. I'm glad she's doing well.
