Your first clue that the contractor has been demolishing your bathroom:

The humdrum and somewhat moldy vanity you've been living with for ten years is out on the curb.
Then you come inside and get a lesson in the archaeology of your house.

For instance, the bathroom used to be the back porch. That's exterior siding on the left. And those boards behind the trash can? Only thing standing between me and the great, chilly outdoors.
The drywall came off to reveal some rather nice old bead board, which, alas, is going too.

Before tonight and tonight.
Then you look around and realize what prompted this whole insanely expensive project to begin with:

Rottenness and decay.
Gotta say, Ed left the place incredibly neat and tidy considering how much crap he carted out of here today. He also left me some notes.

And? I still have a toilet and shower for one more day. After that, it's hotel time.
