The Ink-Pot and the Palette

It's been a peculiarly stressful week, beginning with a short visit from my brother, who flew up from Santa Barbara for our oldest sister's milestone 60th birthday.

(First of all, oh my god how do I have a sixty year old sister?)

I both love and like my brother, and we get along well. We had a nice time together.

Much jubilation in the emeraldsedai family this evening, as my niece Lil got her first big college acceptance letter--from the USC film school!

Assuming there's some money coming with this amazing, elite offer, she'll be off to LA next year to study screenwriting at the place that's "...like Harvard Law School for film."

Her mom, my sis avventura1234 deserves massive kudos for raising so very cool a kid. My niece herself, of course, deserves equally massive kudos for being a combination of Hermione Granger and Wonder Woman all through school. And now she's gonna go major in show business.

How cool is that?
