you know, i really love the pictures you take. your camera takes fantastic, clear pictures, but they wouldn't be so fantastic if it wasn't for the fact that you have a great eye for composition and get some beautiful photos :)

Aw, thanks! That's a really nice thing to say.

I'm actually quite happy with my little camera--it has a good lens for a point-and-shoot, and works pretty fast, so that I have a chance at capturing the things I sometimes see.

There's a similar American comic tradition--usually by black comedians, I think--about growing up in the ghetto or the projects, with "Where I grew up, it was so bad that..." (fill in the blank).

And there's the "uphill both ways" take on it, to wit, "You kids think you have it hard? Well, when I was your age, I had to walk to school! In the snow! Uphill! Both ways!"

This reminds me of the plum trees outside my balcony of my apartment I just left. I realized the day before yesterday that I was going to miss them terribly and that I had never named them. So I named them June, Joan and George. Pink Ladies.

Awww! Good names. It's pink everywhere downtown and in the neighborhoods right now. Maybe it'll stop raining for a couple of days so we can enjoy looking at the trees.
