Reeling

A big thank you today to prime_meridian, serenity_valley, str8ontilmornin, corellian_sugar and electrcspacegrl for forming a big supportive gang around me at last night's Serenity screening.

Portland didn't get a castmember appearance--Big Damn Disappointment--and our screening was extra-long and complicated because the reels were out of order. There was a huge disconnect from one scene to the next, then everything ground to a halt and the lights came up. The official from Universal stood to ask us if we wanted to correct the problem or carry on, but before he got three words out, the audience as one said, "Fix it. We'll wait."

So we had a twenty-minute intermission while reels were put right, then we got to see several early scenes a second time. If it had happened any later in the movie, I'd've killed someone, I think.

We got out at 1:00 a.m., and, unwilling to go silently home, some of us met up at a late-night place, Montage, starving but with no appetite at all. So we drank. And decompressed. I found a shot of Laphroig very...salutary.

I can't stop thinking about the movie. It woke me after only three hours of sleep. It's that powerful.

Great conversation after the movie! If I'd had eaten something last night I would have had all kinds of uncontrollable movie dreams.

Shit. I had those anyway. All three hours of 'em.

Funny thing--talking about it helped. By the time I got home I was much more in love with the movie and much less...well, you know. Needing to drink scotch.

Thanks! That's actually quite helpful. Becuase it's starting to wear off, but not nearly enough yet. I'll know I'm all better when I feel like writing porn again.

I actually managed to write something last night that flowed (as opposed to feeling like I was forcing it out through gritted teeth) and it wasn't porn but it was a light scene that had all the crew in it. So I think I am bouncing back...

I'm still reeling from the movie too. I also can't stop thinking about it. I've been reading everything I can online about it. I don't know how I can wait for September to see it again!

Walking out of the theatre, I felt I could never watch it again. Then overnight I found that I couldn't wait. Joss is a sorcerer.
