Spring does come

It's gonna be a long road. At 61, I accept that I won't see the end of it, or a return to "the way things were".

Which is all the more reason to remember that every day is precious, I am not unlimited, I must give my best work to the Resistance as best I can, and that means taking a breath, and a walk, and a moment to recognize that there is still beauty and hope in the world.

It feels very easy, almost tempting, to deny myself all pleasure. I get to reading the news and it isn't long before anything else feels irrelevant, stupid, even sort of blasphemous, you know? Like, how dare anyone enjoy anything when X-Y-Z horrible thing is happening?

I remind myself that it's an affront to nature, God, the Earth (however one views the larger sphere that puts humans in the proper perspective) if I ignore the robins and sparrows and daffodil spears coming up. I remind myself, too, that I can't do a damn bit of good when I'm exhausted on every level. It's not only okay to enjoy the enjoyable parts of life, I think it's necessary, now more than ever.

YES. Life is a cycle on all levels. We need to recharge all systems regularly.

It really is, and we really do. I've had this conversation with positively everyone in my life in the past couple of weeks. I'm beginning to grasp it myself.
