Lunchables
27/9/10 11:18I feel like a little kid going back to school: I know my mom packed me a yummy lunch and now I'm waiting for the bell to ring so I can eat it.
Something about the autumn weather makes a packed lunch seem new and special again. I haven't been doing bento per se, but have instead branched out into a set of steel containers that I mix and match according to the meal. In general I try not to use disposable food containers, but today I have been so prosaic as to wrap a sandwich in waxed paper, faute de mieux.
Then I tie the components up in a bandanna and plop that into my bike basket, and really, the whole little-kid-going-to-school effect is complete...if that little kid had gray hair and a tricky knee.
